The Story...

The United Nations Outer Space Treaty of 1967 states that no government or nation can own extra-terrestrial property. However, it neglected to mention and individuals or corporations could not own in. In 1980 this loophole was spotted by Dr. Dennis M. Hope who then made a Declaration of Ownership for the Moon and Mars and filed it with the United Nations and the American and Russian governments. He established 'The Lunar Embassy' to sell individual claims to the land under and, since then, has sold to millions the world over, including many famous people and celebrities.

There are no ongoing costs and unless you borrowed the $30, no mortgage! While these land claims are registered with the United Nations and the American and Russian governments (through the Lunar Embassy) they are more of a fun novelty or great gift item so don't get bent out of shape if you do manage to make the trip up and find that some shack is there.

You can choose whether you want only Lunar land claims, only Martian land claims or a combination of the two. If you purchase claims to two or more acres on the same celestial body they will be next to each other and can be registered under different names. Each will also have its own online web space in our virtual cities!

With each purchase you will receive a soft copy of the story entitled "YOU OWN THE WHAT?", which is about how The Lunar Embassy was established, and a soft copy of the initial "Declaration of Ownership" that Dr. Hope filed with the UN and the American and Russian governments in 1980.
